Magnesium anodes, also called sacrificial anodes or protective anodes, reliably protect drinking water storage tanks against corrosion. This can occur due to flaws in the enamelling/coating, built-in parts and threaded connections. Buffer storage tanks in connection with untreated heating water can also be protected against corrosion with this.
The service life of an anode can vary greatly. An annual check is recommended. The use of signal anodes or -insulated installation- simplify the annual inspection considerably. Replacement is necessary when the anode has decreased by 2/3 or the protective current is less than 0.3 mA.
Anodes can be shortened individually!
